Mumbai: As Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria tries to tear the web of lies that has at its centre the unfortunate death of Sheena Bora, investigations have reportedly revealed that the two main accused, Sheena’s mother Indrani Mukerjea and her second husband Sanjeev Khanna were trying to shift blame on each other over the crime.
Sheena is Indrani’s daughter by a previous relationship.
Indrani has told cops that Sanjeev Khanna strangulated her daughter, but Sanjeev Khanna maintains that he had fallen asleep in the car on that fateful day. Rahul Mukerjea has told the police during his questioning that, on April 24, 2012, he had dropped Sheena in Bandra and was aware that she was meeting Indrani.
In custody, Indrani is daily confronted with the evidence Mumbai cops have gathered from Sanjeev Khanna and the other accused, driver Shyamvar Rai.
Reports suggest the three carried out a recce of the spot Sheena’s body would be dumped in the Raigad forests before the murder.
“It is time you proved your loyalty to me,” Indrani is reported to have told the driver before pulling him into the plan that ended in the murder.

Rai, Mumbai Mirror reported, has given graphic details of the events that led up to April 24, the day of the murder.
After Rai agreed to be part of the macabre plan, Indrani reportedly made a call to Khanna.
Khanna, who stayed at the Hilltop Hotel in Worli, went with them for the recce on April 23, the tabloid reported. The purpose reportedly was to find out how long it would take to reach Raigad, how deep into the forest the car would go and how secluded the area was.
The report says the plan was put into action the next evening around 7 pm. Indrani reportedly summoned Sheena and met her near a showroom in Bandra. Rahul Mukerjea, who is Peter’s son from his first marriage and was in a relationship with Sheena, accompanied her to Bandra but did not get into the car, the tabloid reported.

Details get a little hazy after this – while the driver says Sanjeev Khanna strangled Sheena, he rebuts saying he fell asleep in the car.
The tabloid reports the body was stuffed in a bag and put in the dicky of the car. The car was reportedly parked that night in Peter Mukerjea’s Worli home.
Next day on April 25, Shyam was summoned at 5 am to the Hilltop Hotel, the report says. From there, the three drove to Raigad to dispose the body. Sheena’s face was reportedly smashed and the body burnt. The bag reportedly was not destroyed.
The police are waiting for Sanjeev Khanna to be brought to Mumbai for further interrogation.
