More heat: Hyderabad at 43 degree Celsius

Ramagundam in Telangana state has smashed its all-time heat record and has reported 46.1ºC on April 21.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad recorded 43ºC for the second time this month, a first in 43 years. The mercury had touched 43.3ºC on April 13. On Friday, the temperature was 7ºC above normal, which for this time of the year is 38.6ºC, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

Heat wave alert on till Sunday

Severe heat wave conditions have been forecast regions in Telangana and Rayalaseema till Sunday morning.

Ramagundam in Telangana state has smashed its all-time heat record and has reported 46.1ºC on April 21. That reading us the highest in the history of Telangana. Nizamabad came a close second with its own temperature levels reaching a scorching 45.1ºC.

Met department director Mr Y.K. Reddy said, “The normal temperatures during summer are different for every district and also depends on the month. For example, the normal temperature for Hyderabad in April is around 38.6ºC, however, in May it could reach 39.5ºC. Meanwhile it is 40ºC for Nizamabad. Any station reporting above the normal temperature is declared as heat wave-affected. For April 23, as was April 22, the temperatures will be 7ºC above normal in TS and Rayalaseema. The heat may slightly decrease by Sunday morning.”

Meanwhile, the night temperatures have also increased. On Friday, before sunset, the temperature in Hyderabad was 29.8ºC — 5ºC above normal. The forecast for Hyderabad on Saturday is partly cloudy skies with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 43ºC and 27ºC.
