Telangana will get bountiful rain, predicts IMD

The monsoon is predicted taking into account 16 parameters including the heat during the summer.

Hyderabad: Holding out some good news for Telangana state and AP that are running short of water, the IMD has predicted that both states will receive above average rainfall.

The normal long-period average rainfall for the country is 89 per cent. TS is likely to get 102 per cent and AP 106 per cent from June to September.

A senior official of IMD, Hyderabad, said AP being on the coast would receive more rainfall, as rains and cyclones move in through the sea. “After crossing AP it will come to TS with lesser intensity. Thus AP will receive slightly more rainfall than TS,” he said.

The monsoon is predicted taking into account 16 parameters including the heat during the summer. The IMD gives an update at the end of May.
