Mumbai: Mumbai Police sources investigating the Sheena Bora murder case told Deccan Chronicle that Indrani Mukerjea and her former husband Sanjeev Khanna hatched a plot to kill the girl because she had discovered that they were having an affair and was blackmailing them.
The police are also investigating the role of Sheena’s brother Mikhail, who has told police he was present in Mumbai on the fateful day she was killed. Mikhail is suspected of having operated Sheena’s social media profiles after her death.

Khanna, who lived in Kolkata, was a frequent visitor to Mumbai and used to stay in Hotel Hill Top in Worli, the same neighbourhood where Indrani and Peter Mukerjea had their house.
A senior police officer said, “We have collected the details diary of Hill Top hotel to check on Khanna’s visits”. On the day of the alleged murder, he was staying in the hotel.
The police have also identified the Opel Corsa car in which Sheena was taken to Raigad. “The car was hired from Mumbai. We are yet to recover the vehicle. We are looking for the owner of the car, who stays in the city,” an official said.
The police were also trying to procure CCTV footage from toll booths that the car travelled through while going from Mumbai to Pen in April 2012, but the data for that period no longer exists.
