Ravi Shastri to be Team India’s next coach, will get paid Rs 7 crore a year: report

The announcement is expected to be made following Bangladesh tour

Mumbai: It seems BCCI’s search for Indian cricket team’s next coach is over as Ravi Shastri is expected to take over coach’s duty.

According to a report in ‘Hindustan Times’, the current Team India director will be formally appointed as Indian cricket team coach after India's ongoing tour of Bangladesh. The former cricketer will be offered Rs 7 crore-a-year-deal, added the report.

Following India’s loss in Test series against England in 2014, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the director of the team.

Following Duncan Fletcher’s departure after the World Cup 2015, the position of Team India coach became vacant. While it was reported that BCCI would appoint new coach before the team would travel to Bangladesh, the decision was delayed.

Instead, the Board of Control for Cricket in India retained the support staff of Sanjay Bangar, R Sridhar and Bharat Arun with Ravi Shastri continuing as the Team India director.
