Manchester blast: UK PM May condemns 'appalling terrorist attack'

Prime Minister Theresa May was campaigning for the United Kingdom election on June 8 which has now been cancelled.

London: British Prime Minister Theresa May condemned on Tuesday the "appalling terrorist attack" at a pop concert in Manchester that killed 22 people and injured 59.

"We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack," May said in a statement.

May was campaigning for the United Kingdom election on June 8 which has now been cancelled. According to Sky News, a Tory (Conversation) source speaking to a news agency said that the Prime Minister's general election campaign was being suspended.

22 people have been killed in a suspected explosion at the end of a pop concert by US star Ariana Grande in Manchester in north-west England that is being treated as a terrorist incident, police said.

"We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack," British PM May said in a statement.
