Apple's own device leaks iPhone 8's screen design, face unlocking features

Apple's next flagship phone secrets were given away by one of its own gadgets.

A month more and we will be seeing the next, most anticipated flagship smartphone from Apple. While most of Apple’s device secrets, with regards to design and specifications, are always a curiosity topic within the tech world, one of Apple’s very own devices allegedly gave away some insides.

According to a report filed by The Verge, Apple’s HomePod, the Siri-based intelligent speaker, incidentally gave away some information about the next Apple flagship iPhone. The report highlighted a tweet by a developer Steve Troughton-Smith, which mentions that at least one of the models of the upcoming iPhone, will have face unlocking features. He also sent out the information that the iPhone Pro, the higher-end model, will sport a bezelless display that wraps around the speaker and cameras on the top.

The developer(s), who have their hands on the initial operating systems, officially supplied by Apple, have been examining the codes very carefully. And from the codes of the HomePod comes in some weird information. Apple accidentally pushed out the firmware for the HomPod last week, and a bunch of developers happened to track it, and store it. Within the codes they learned about how the LED lights on the top will work on the HomePod, but also gave away some details which could be related to the upcoming iPhones.

The code lines referred to ‘BKFaceDetect,’ where BK probably refers to Biometric Kit, and where Kit often relates to developer tools. There were also references seen about an infrared camera, which could be used for detecting the face.

Earlier leaks about Apple opting for a 3D camera and a bezelless display were also out in the open, which, according to these lines of code, could be a huge possibility.

The developer goes to state that there could be a likely edge-to-edge display wrapping around the top speaker and sensors.
