iPhone 8 might feature an LG built 3D camera

Apple has tied up with LG for the production of the 3D camera sensors for the future iPhone model.

The next iteration of Apple’s flagship device iPhone is expected to undergo a huge design overhaul, with reports suggesting adoption of a full glass body with a metal frame and OLED display.

There are also reports surfacing about the next iPhone featuring a 3D camera build by LG. According to Korean Economic Daily, Apple has tied up with LG for the production of the 3D camera sensors for the future iPhone model.

Both companies are yet to confirm the news, but the reports suggest that the LG built 3D tech camera will be used for Apple devices in the second half of 2017, meaning iPhone 8 will be the first device to boast the new technology.

Apple also recently acquired Israeli imaging firm LinX, taking control of its enhanced camera system that also includes 3D depth mapping. The technology has already been integrated in the current generation of the iPhone.

If the online reports are to believed, the next iPhone model is expected to feature a wireless charging system that involves charging the phone without having to place the device on a platform. The iPhone 8 will be chargeable from a distance of up to 15 feet from a plugged-in transmitter.
