iOS 11 never turns off WiFi, Bluetooth

Control Centre only disables WiFi, Bluetooth for data transfers, keeps it on for peripheral connections.

After the global rollout of iOS 11, iPhones, iPads and iPods have been blessed with a lease of life. However, folks at Motherboard have discovered a new bug in iOS 11 that doesn’t switch off WiFi or Bluetooth when done through the Control Centre.

If an iPhone or iPad user switches off the WiFi or Bluetooth from the Control Centre, the device will disconnect it only from connected devices. Both the WiFi and Bluetooth will be kept switched on for keeping them connected to accessory devices such as the Apple Watch or AirPods.

However, Apple’s documentation states that this is not a bug but a feature of the latest version of iOS. This has been included to let users seamlessly use Apple-exclusive features such as AirDrop and AirPlay along with location services. It can also stay connected to Apple'Pencil, Apple Watch and use Continuity features like Handoff and Instant Hotspot.

Therefore, if you are wondering why the new iOS 11 update is drawing a substantial amount of power from your iPhone, then you will have to dig deep into the Settings menu and turn off WiFi and Bluetooth individually every time you turn them on for saving your iPhone’s power reserve.
