Xiaomi investigates cause of Mi Max and Mi 4C explosion

Xiaomi has commissioned a third-party organization to investigate two cases of its smartphones explosion in China.

Xiaomi is reportedly investigating Mi Max and Mi 4C explosion that happened in China, earlier this month.

According to Taipei-based Central News Agency (CNA) report, Xiaomi has commissioned a third-party organization to investigate two cases of its smartphones explosion in China.

On September 5 in Xian, a 6.4-inch Xiaomi Mi Max exploded while the user was charging the phones, CNA reported. Another case was reported on September 9, when a user, who claimed that he bought the handset from Xiaomi’s official website, experienced three-degree burns from a Xiaomi Mi 4C explosion.

As the investigation continues, Xiaomi has ‘insisted’ two cases to be accidents, reported Digit Times, a China-based technology website. According to DigiTimes, Xiaomi has made compensation to the victims accordingly.

Last month, Samsung ordered to withdraw at least 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 units from 10 countries, including US and South Korea. At least 35 cases of Note 7 explosion have been reported since its release in August 19.

While investigating, Samsung found a production error that pushed together negative and positive poles within battery cells, which caused the units to explode. And now the company is planning to switch to China’s ATL for supplying batteries, which is Apple’s main supplier for iPhone batteries.
