FB tests SMS service in Messenger, launches multiple account support
Reports online suggest that the social networking giant is testing SMS integration in its Messenger app. Which means, users will be able to replace their default texting applications with Facebook’s SMS service, which would in turn increase the user engagement on Facebook Messenger.
However, when rolled out, the choice to switch to Facebook SMS would be optional, reports suggest.
Further, Facebook also announced support for multiple user account on the Messenger, where in people with shared devices or with multiple accounts can access the messenger conveniently. However, the feature is limited to Android users for now.
Facebook has added a new ‘Accounts’ section in Messenger for Android users, which allows adding and removing accounts on the app. The multiple accounts can be secured using passwords, so only the rightful owner of the account can access it.
