Xiaomi Mi 3 and Mi 4 get Android Marshmallow update

Xiaomi fans can now start updating their smartphones with Android Marshmallow.

Android Marshmallow was released a long ago and many people are still waiting for their new operating system update for their devices. While most recent smartphones are getting their updates and new smartphones are already shipping with Marshmallow, older devices will probably have to wait for Marshmallow updates from their respective manufacturers. However, in the case of Xiaomi, many Mi flagship smartphone owners will be happy to hear this.

Flagship devices from Xiaomi, the Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note are getting their Marshmallow updates globally. The Mi 5 has already been equipped with Android Marshmallow, which makes all Xiaomi flagships new operate on the Marshmallow operating system platform.

Those who are not updating their Mi devices in time, will have to upgrade their handsets in sequential order to get to the latest update. If you are older than MIUI 5.12.17, you will have to first update to the 5.12.17 version and then update to MIUI 6.3.17, which is based on Android Marshmallow.

The MIUI 7 with Marshmallow comes with a load of new features and bug fixes. These include account locking features, permission management, restriction of data to apps, design changes in a few apps, wireless data transfer between devices, and a few others are new. As for bug fixes, there are quite a few which can be checked out at the official Xiaomi MIUI forum.

However, there is no confirmation as yet on device updates for the Xiaomi Mi Pad, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note 3 and Mi 4i that are already around in the country.
