In the latest update, the messaging app has also increased group limit to add 256 members from 100.

WhatsApp has quietly added a new feature in its messenger app so that user can at least get a notification alert whenever their name is mentioned in a group, even at times when they have put the group on mute.

The new feature allows users to tag friends (group members), using the ‘@’ symbol, followed by his/her name.

The moment you’ll insert the ‘@’ symbol a new window will pop-up, asking you to select the contact to whom you are willing to dedicate the message, the way it is done on Twitter.

Additionally, the feature allows users to tag multiple contacts in the same message, even contacts which are not saved in user's address book.

The Facebook-owned messaging app earlier also introduced a ‘quote’ feature, another handy feature which can be used in a group chat. The feature let users to quote somebody’s message when replying; making it easier for others to understand which message is being referred to in the conversation.

In the latest update, WhatsApp has also increased group limit— to add 256 members from 100. The feature is currently available on both iOS and Android platforms, while it is still not available on the desktop version of the messaging app.
