The man who claimed to own half of Facebook recently acknowledged that he had earlier fled as his life was in danger, as per a letter he sent to Bloomberg.
Paul Ceglia, the guy from Wellsville, New York, had earlier claimed that he owned half of Mark Zuckerberg’s company and had the required papers to prove it as well.
According to reports, he had sued Facebook and CEO Zuckerberg, suggesting that he had entered into a contract agreement with the current Facebook boss in 2003 which entitled Ceglia to majority of the company.
However, both Facebook and Zuckerberg had rubbished the claims, as the contract was only regarding StreetFax. The case was ruled out in March 2013 before he was charged in 2012 with trying to defraud Facebook and Zuckerberg.
Ceglia also said that he has lost faith on the government after the ruling; one of the main reasons he fled during the on-going investigation.
On the contrary, the government investigators found no evidence that could back Ceglia’s claims and said he wanted to defame the company and Zuckerberg.
He was sentenced to prison for forty years for one count of mail fraud and another count of wire fraud. However, in 2015, he broke the electric anklet attached to his leg and fled for good.
Even on the run, he held his stance and tried to revive the old case but to no avail. Another Appeals court turned down his judgement again in 2015.
