Instagram Stories lifts the 24-hour limit for photos, videos

The latest update now allows users to upload old pictures and videos on Stories, with contextual stickers.

If you do a lot of Instagram Stories, then you must be knowing the irritating 24-hour limit for photos and videos — you cannot upload photos and videos that have been on your phone for more than 24 hours. However, that issue doesn’t exist anymore as everyone’s favourite ‘Insta’ has lifted the 24-hour limit, letting you go wild with your old photos and videos.

The latest update is slowly rolling out to both the Android and iOS platform. There’s no additional process that you have to keep in mind — Just like you normally would, swipe up from the camera to open your camera roll or tap the gallery icon. Scroll to choose your photo or video, and tap to select what you want to share.

If you choose a photo or video that’s more than 24 hours old on your device, then you will automatically see a new sticker that helps you add context to when it was taken. You can rotate, resize or remove the date sticker from your story before you share, just like you do on an existing Instagram Story. However, Stories will still stay around for 24 hours on the timeline before they are pulled down.

However, a bypass for this issue had always been existing in older versions of Instagram — all you needed to do was slightly edit an old photo or take a screenshot and then post it as new Instagram Story. Don't thank us, it's a common practice.
