Microsoft has been trying hard to push its services on Android and iOS platforms after its disastrous exit from the smartphone arena with Windows Mobile. There are a ton of Microsoft apps such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Xbox, Cortana and even their own launcher for Android. However, a Microsoft web browser for both the platforms has been missing, which is now completed with the arrival of Edge for mobile.
Available as a beta for now on iOS, Edge will be globally rolled out to Android as well in the coming weeks. As of now, Edge carries over the familiar minimalist design of the PC version and comes with its own set of features, with the highlight being its ‘Continue to PC’ feature.
Essentially, if you are browsing some page on your phone and want to carry it over to the PC from the spot you left, you will be able to do that by simply choosing the ‘Continue to PC’ option. However, you will have to use Windows 10 on your PC with Microsoft’s Edge browser as your primary browser to do that.
Apart from that, you will be also able to access your favourites, history, reading list and ebooks from your PC on your phone. The favourites and reading list sync. However, there’s no tab sync right now on Edge, something that rival Chrome has been doing perfectly. Also, there’s no Cortana support as well as any of those doodling features found on the PC version.
Edge will roll out globally for both the platforms in the coming weeks and by that time should evolve into a bug-free web browser.
