Sony's latest digital camera has world's fastest autofocus

The Cyber-shot RX10 IV can record 4K videos with touch based focus system.

Sony has announced its Cyber-shot RX10 IV digital camera in India. The fixed lens camera is claimed to have the world’s fastest autofocus system for a digital camera and retails for a price of Rs 1,29,990.

Sony claims that the RX10 IV features the world’s fastest autofocus time of 0.03 seconds with 315 focal-plane phase-detection AF points. The camera also offers continuous high-speed shooting at up to 24 fps with full AF/AE tracking.

The RX10 IV comes with the 24-600mm ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens with a large aperture of F2.4-F4.0. The company claims that this will aid in high levels of optical zoom. The lens also has built-in Optical Image Stabilisation that will help to reduce camera shake and image blur. Sony says that upon activation, it is equivalent to an approximate 4.5 steps shutter speed improvement.

The RX10 IV also features a tiltable LCD screen with Touch Focus and Touch Pad function for quick and smooth focusing operation. It can also do 4K (3840 x 2160) movie recording, with its Fast Hybrid AF system.

The camera utilizes the XAVC S codec, recording video at a high data rate of up to 100Mbps depending on shooting mode. It also features Super-slow-motion video recording with an extended duration of about four seconds (in quality priority mode) and seven seconds (in shoot time priority).
