Skullcandy Grind 2.0: A decent pair of unique headphones

Skullcandy is probably one of the well-known companies when it comes to audio accessories in India.

Pros: No difference in sound quality between the two connectivity options; Bluetooth and Aux, Unique design.

Cons: Bass quality preferred only for a specific genre of music and not all.

Skullcandy is probably one of the well-known companies when it comes to audio accessories in India. Why is that? Well, they have surely made a mark in delivering products that contain both quality and style.

While the style factor was immediately confirmed when I first got my hands on Skullcandy’s Grind 2.0 – the company’s not-so-recent but still popular wireless offering.

Design and Built:

The major controls are on the product itself. The major controls are on the product itself.

As far as design is concerned, the Skullcandy Grind 2.0 were quite a treat to look at. While they are essentially available in two standard colours of blue and white; there are a range of other gleeful options that one can choose from. I received the Gray/Plaid variant and boy, was I pleased about it.

Skullcandy Grind 2.0 are built with a solid metal headband and water-resistant mixed leather cover for cushions. This, I must say is a good attempt at providing comfort as well as durability. However, there’s also a solid chance that the cushion for the head will eventually turn limp if someone has a sweaty head. This basically rules out the option for fitness freaks to opt for Skullcandy Grind 2.0 as their regular go-to wear during their workout sessions. Moreover, the soft ear cushions also fail to minimize the chances of excess vibrations in case the volume is high.

The AUX wire that comes equipped with a heavy gold tip seems to satisfy the standard quality test that any normal user would require.

Quality

The primary feature of Skullcandy Grind 2.0 is that it’s wireless with Bluetooth connectivity that offers users up to 33ft of wireless range. The headphones work for 12 hours straight after a full charge, making it extremely convenient for users to remain at ease while they make use of it.

I also found no difference when it came to the sound quality while I switched between the two connection options, Bluetooth and AUX. In fact, the Skullcandy Grind 2.0 could even easily adapt to the equalizers of the source that the music was played from. Moreover, a no-lagging experience on YouTube and third party videos with these headphones was like an added bonus.

Convenience

The advancing technology is suppose to add more convenience to users’ lives and while there seem to be efforts from the side of Skullcandy to implement this in Grind 2.0, there is something lacking.

The major controls are on the product itself which is great, however since the mic is away from the ideal position of the users’ mouth, the latter may experience distortion in terms of speaking levels.

Overview

Very rightly named Grind,' as it surely holds the potential to make the engineers of the competitors grind their teeth.Very rightly named ‘Grind,’ as it surely holds the potential to make the engineers of the competitors grind their teeth.

The set price for Skullcandy’s Grind 2.0 is approximately Rs. 7,000 in the market which in my opinion, is perfect for any music lover. Very rightly named ‘Grind,’ as it surely holds the potential to make the engineers of the competitors grind their teeth at the quality and the price these are offered at. The Skullcandy Grind 2.0 are a wonderful choice even for professionals as their noise cancellation ability is up to the point. An appropriate blend of style and quality, I’d give it a thumbs up.
