Wimbledon 2016 final: Murray thrashes Raonic to clinch second title

Local boy rules on grass court, overcomes Canadian 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 .

London: Andy Murray beat Milos Raonic 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 to win a second Wimbledon title and third Grand slam on Sunday.

Here's how the action unfolded

He leads 6-4 7-6 3-2*.

Raonic is still not able to get the first break point against Murray’s service.

Raonic holds his third service game to love. This is a perfect time for the Canadian to bounce back. He didn’t have a good second service game.

Canadian wins another point from the net, but Murray is still leading 30-15.

Raonic drops first point on second serve but controls the damage with next strokes to make it 40-15. Wow! There is a 17-shot rally.

The players start their warm-up rallies; it is a repeat of the Aegon Championships final when Murray fought back, from one set and a break behind, to win. Raonic should have learnt from his mistakes.

On the other hand, Murray will be keen to wrap his third title.

If Raonic overcomes the Briton, he will be the first player from Canada to win a Grand Slam.

He will face Raonic, the Canadian, in his own backyard. It will be Raonic’s first final.

There is no Roger Federer or a Novak Djokovic breathing down his neck.

Murray is back in a Grand Slam final for the 11th time and for a change, the road seems easy.
