Minister Rajini Plays Tennis at Inauguration of Sports Competition at NTR Grounds

VIJAYAWADA: Health minister Vidadala Rajini boldly stepped onto the tennis court in a sari on Thursday, to inspire athletes and underscore the significance of
sports in everyday life.

This distinctive show was at the inauguration of the sports competition held in the NTR Sports Ground in Guntur as a part of the Aadudam Andhra initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Rajini emphasised the correlation between health and happiness through active participation in sports. “The honor of initiating the nation's most extensive sports tournament goes to the YSRC government,” she stated.

The grand event, spanning 47 days, is witnessing massive participation with 1.22 crore players and spectators registering across the state.

An essential component of the initiative involves distributing 5.09 lakh sports kits to foster sports at the grassroots level.

A record-breaking 34.19 lakh athletes registered for their participation in five distinct sports, marking the largest sports event in the region.

Highlighting the health benefits of sports, Rajini underscored their role in preventing chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes. The mega tournament aimed not only to promote good health but also unearth hidden talents among the youths in the state, she said.

MLA Maddali Giri, mayor K.V. Naidu and other dignitaries were present. Municipal officials and public representatives actively participated in the programme, reflecting widespread support for the government's initiative.
