Meanwhile, state police officials said that the championship would be considered as a good start for the state.

Kochi: Elizabeth Susan Koshy clinched gold, her second medal at the 10th All India Police (Sport) Shooting Championship, on its final day on Thursday. She won gold in the Women’s Standard Rifle Three position with 578 points after a neck to neck contest with Commonwealth Silver medal winner Lajja Goswami of Gujarat (577 points). National gold medallist Koshy who was recently posted as a Circle Inspector of Police with the state police expressed pleasure in being able to bag medals for the state.

“I was the first-ever participant for Kerala in the championship and am happy to have bagged medals in both categories in which I contested,” she said. Hot favourite, CRPF swept the championship with a dozen medals followed by teams like BSF, Punjab and CISF. Meanwhile, state police officials said that the championship would be considered as a good start for the state. “This time we had just one contestant. We hope to send at least a dozen contestants during the next edition of the championship and have selected a few guys,” he said.
