Handball tournament: Krishna University pips RGUHS for Quarter final berth

Vijayawada: South Zone Inter University Handball Tournament for men reached the quarter final stage. Host Krishna University has entered the quarter finals by registering successive victories. On Monday, Krishna University, beat Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (KA) by 39-29 goals and reached the league entry matches. In the quarter finals, Krishna University will play with Alagappa University (TN) on Tuesday.

In other matches, Osmania University (TS) lost to University of Kerala by 27-33, Bharathiyar University (TN) beat Rayalaseema University of AP by 44-31 and another match was won by University of Calicut (Kerala) over University of Madras (TN) by 40-22 goals. According to South Zone Inter University Handball Tourney director Dr S. Raju, on Tuesday, quarter final matches would be held at Vikas institutions. Winning teams would reach the league stage, he added.

3rd Round Results: University of Kerala (KER) beat Madurai Kamaraj University (TN) with 38-37 goals, Osmania University (TS) beat Andhra University (AP) 41-39, Krishna University (AP) beat Rani Chennamma University (KA) 35-22, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (KA) beat Tumkur Univer-sity (KA) by 45-18, Rayalaseema University (AP) beat Pondicherry University (PON) 36-23, Bharathiyar University (TN) beat Kannur University (KER) 45-29 goals, University of Calicut (KER) beat University of Mysore (KA) 26-18, University of Madras (TN) beat Annamalai University (TN) 52-49.
