Double for Snehit

Varuni Jaiswal also won two titles to take top honours at TT event.

Armed with confidence and optimism, S. Fidel R. Snehit and Varuni Jaiswal emerged champions by bagging two titles each in the Telangana State Ranking Table Tennis tournament in Hyderabad.

With a strong forehand as his strength Global Table Tennis Academy’s Snehit picked points at will to defeat Chandrachud of Gujarati Seva Mandali 4-1 (6-11, 11-6, 13-11, 11-8, 11-1) to win the men’s title.

Despite losing the first game, Snehit came from behind with all determination to subdue his rival. In the first game Chandrachud dominated by winning it 11-6. That was enough to stimulate Snehit, who began to get into his groove. He took the next four games 11-6, 13-11, 11-8, 11-1 to clinch the title.

Later, Snehith won the Junior boys category by defeating Mohd Ali of Lal Bahadur Stadium 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 11-7, 11-5.

In the Youth Girls category, Varuni Jaiswal edged past V. Laasya with a 4-1 verdict. The scoreline read 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8 in favour of Varuni.

Varuni defeated the same opponent to win the Junior Girls title as well. This time, Laasya could win a game more but it was Varuni who emerged victor with a 6-11, 11-7, 11-9, 12-10, 8-11, 11-7 scoreline.

In the women’s category, Nikhat Banu of Gujarati Seva Mandali drubbed G. Pranitha 4-0 (12-10, 11-8, 11-4, 11-9). Nikhat captured the title as she kept her slate clean. Pranitha couldn’t match the winner’s tempo as she struggled to handle her attacking game.
