The championship was played against an aggregate score over three rounds.

Sixteen-year-old Rahul Ajay positioned himself as a budding golfer from Hyderabad after outshining his competitors in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and South Africa to win the Kids World Golf Championship held in Malaysia.

The championship was played against an aggregate score over three rounds. Rahul was ranked fifth at the end of the second day and clinched the win over Malaysian Alffitri Saidin by one stroke who was ranked second after the second day.

Rahul started playing golf at the age of 10 and found his mojo in this game. He has come a long way in last many years being the top golfer at the Hyderabad Golf Club, his base.

Rahul, who is playing golf since eight, has been participating in the National Juniors circuit organised by Indian Golf Union, a governing body for Golf in India.

The towering youngster dreams about the sport. “I was introduced to golf when I was eight and got hooked on to the game at 10 when I played my first competitive tournament. Though, I was ranked last, it introduced me to game spirit and competition. Since then I have not looked back and have been enjoying every moment on the golf course,” he says.

“I am getting to understand the mechanics and technicality of golf well. This has helped me to gel well with my coaches in the past. My coach Indrajit Bhalotia, picked me among the group of juniors attending his camp and has taken upon himself personally to mentor me both on the technical and mental level of the game,” Rahul adds.
