HIL: Delhi hope to register their first victory

If Delhi were known for their attacking style of play, Punjab stood out with their total hockey that had opponents in awe

New Delhi: A clash between Delhi Waveriders and Jaypee Punjab Warriors two years ago would have evoked the promise of free-flowing hockey and plenty of goals.

If Delhi were known for their attacking style of play, Punjab stood out with their total hockey that had opponents in awe. In Season 5 of the Hockey India League, however, both have failed to get going.

While Delhi are still searching for their first win after three games, Punjab have just one victory and two losses to their name. Defending champions Punjab — who have not tinkered with their combination and set of players — will be itching to get things right when the teams battle it out at Shivaji Stadium here on Tuesday evening.

Punjab look up to the inspirational Sardar Singh and boast of the likes of Mark Knowles, S.V. Sunil, Mink van der Weerden and young India striker Armaan Qureshi.
