Pro Kabaddi: Jasvir Singh argues like he is the referee, says U Mumba's Anup Kumar

The U Mumba skipper was disappointed by the referee's leniency towards rival Jasvir Singh.

Mumbai: An intense rivalry of all sorts is brewing between U Mumba skipper Anup Kumar and Jaipur Pink Panthers captain Jasvir Singh, on and off the mat. Jasvir, who has temporarily taken the captaincy mantle in place of the injured Manjeet Chhillar once again got into a heated exchange with the players of the home side on several occasions during Jaipur's defeat.

The Panthers veteran who is known for his on-court aggressiveness and drama, once again, got himself into trouble with the referee during the match. Unhappy over a point allocation to the opposition, the Jaipur raider persistently protested against the official’s call, that led to him being shown a yellow card, resulting in a 2-minute suspension.

However, during the post match press conference, U Mumba skipper Anup Kumar once again lashed out at Jasvir.

"The refereeing in this match was just brilliant," the 33-year-old commented sarcastically. Anup slammed the officials for their abysmal decisions, insisting the referees were very lenient towards the Jaipur skipper.

“The referee's decision today was absolutely poor. And specially Jasvir Singh, on every word he's getting into an argument with the referee. He was shown a yellow card, but they did not even provide us with a technical point. What’s the use? Jasvir should have been suspended much before that,” Anup said.

U Mumba tasted two shocking defeats at home to Puneri Paltan and the Jaipur Pink Panthers but got back to winning ways with 2 consecutive wins in their final two outings. The U Mumba skipper added that the victories served as a confidence booster.

“We have made a good comeback. We haven’t performed at the very best in the last 3-4 matches and I think we need a lot more confidence. Kashing Adake, Darshan J. and Srikanth Jadhav have been performing well and if we all contribute a bit to our defence, we can cover our poor shows at the back. “

Bhaskaran Edacherry’s men will now travel for the Kolkata leg as they look to cement their place in the playoff spot, currently stationed a place below the Gujarat Fortunegiants by 12 points.

The India skipper also hailed the crowd for their unending support throughout the home leg.

"For U Mumba every leg is our home leg. The crowd support has been massive and this support only will take us ahead,” Anup signed off.
