Premier League: Barcelona's Lionel Messi-Pep Guardiola to reunite at Manchester City?

According to reports by the Daily Record, Manchester City has met with Lionel Messi's representatives in Spain to discuss his transfer.

Barcelona: In what could be the biggest transfer in the history of football, Barcelona maestro Lionel Messi is ‘seriously considering’ a move away from Nou Camp. According to reports by the Daily Record, Manchester City has met with Lionel Messi's representatives in Spain to discuss the possibility of bringing the Argentine international to the Premier League.

According to the report, Messi is dissatisfied with Barcelona's current squad following the enforced sale of teammate and close-friend Neymar. Neymar moved to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for record €222 million after the French club triggered his release clause. The Brazilian’s move to PSG brought an end to the ‘Messi-Suarez-Neymar’ reign, who formed a formidable partnership together at the Camp Nou.

On July 5th, Lionel Messi signed a new contract with the Catalan club, extending his stay until the summer of 2021.

Manchester City’s interest in the Barcelona legend has been well-known given Pep Guardiola's admiration for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. However, the move depends on Messi and if Barcelona fails to keep hold of him with an improvised contract, a reunion between Messi and Guardiola could be on the cards.
