Watch: MS Dhoni's hilarious dande me daal dena' comment is caught on stump mic

When MS Dhoni the wicketkeeper speaks, it is absolute gold.

Kolkata: MS Dhoni has done it again. While India’s World Cup-winning skipper could not repeat his Chennai heroics with the bat in the second India versus Australia ODI in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Thursday, Dhoni, the wicketkeeper, at his best.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who is one of the most astute and streetwise readers of the game, may not be leading the side anymore. However, he does everything in his power – playing crucial knocks, chipping in with advice on field placements, giving suggestions when to use Decision Review System (DRS) – to help Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli, to his credit, always values his predecessor’s suggestion.

However, Dhoni, the wicketkeeper has been a biggest boon to the bowlers; especially to the young Indian spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

Dhoni, as caught on stump mic, was vocal and pithy with his chatter from behind the wickets during the Chennai ODI. And nothing changed on that aspect even as the venue changed from Chennai to Kolkata.

Dhoni, was at his chattering best, as he told exactly what needs to be done as Steve Smith and Travis Head were batting in the Kolkata ODI.

As Chahal bowled to the Australian left-hander, the stump mic caught Dhoni advising Hardik Pandya.

“Do kadam piche rehnaa, do kadam piche (Stay a couple of steps back)”, Dhoni quipped from behind the stumps.

Then, he was heard telling Chahal how to bowl against Glenn Maxwell, who was looking to have a crack at the young Indian spinners.

“Ball jyada ghumega to dande me daal dena (If the ball turns a lot, bowl at the stumps),” chirped Dhoni.

“Woh maarane waala daal naa; andar yaa baahar koi bhi (Bowl the one where he tries to hit, turning in or away, anything is fine)”. There was also this “Ghumane waala daal ghumane waala (Bowl the one that turns)” as Chahal and Kuldeep operated during the Chennai ODI.

Dhoni was not pleased as Glenn Maxwell targetted Kuldeep, hammering 3 sixes and a four to yield 22 runs in an over. While Dhoni wanted Kuldeep to toss the ball up and throw it wide. Kuldeep bowled in the line of the stumps as the Big Show went hammer and tongs.

Dhoni’s “Stump pe mat dal (don’t bowl in the line of the stumps)” and “Arre baahar daal, isko itna aage nahi (bowl wider (outside the off stump) and not this full)” was caught on stump mic as Kuldeep erred.

Then, it was Chahal’s turn to get some Dhoni tips. While the leggie did not get it right immediately, he was smart enough to make quick alterations. Dhoni’s banter too went from “Tu bhi nahin sunta hai kya (You also won’t listen)?” to “Aise, aise dalo (bowl it like this)”.
