Chennai: Tamil Nadu Cricket Association president N. Srinivasan said India mainstays R. Ashwin and M. Vijay would be part of the Tamil Nadu Ranji team for the quarterfinals against Karnataka to be held at Vizag from September 23.
Ashwin was scheduled to travel to Dubai for the inauguration of a private academy, but the off-spinner has cancelled his trip after the TNCA selectors named him in the Ranji squad.
Opener Vijay is nursing a bruised shoulder and did not bat in the top five in India innings. He, however, came down the order and was unbeaten on 17 at stumps on day three of Chepauk Test.
“Even though the break between the ongoing England Test and the Ranji knockouts is just two days, both (Ashwin and Vijay) are eager to represent Tamil Nadu,” said Srinivasan. BCCI chief selector M.S.K. Prasad has also communicated to TNCA secretary.
