HCA club moves court against polls

The judge reminded that a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution against an order passed by a civil court may not be maintainable.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday said that it will decide on Monday the maintainability of a writ filed against an order of a civil court, which ordered holding of elections to the Hyderabad Cricket Association.

Justice A. V. Sesha Sai said this while hearing the writ filed by St Andrews Cricket Club (ACC) of Marredpally in Secunderabad challenging the December 23 order of the V Additional District Judge of Ranga Reddy.

The ACC represented by C. Dayananad moved the writ contending that the order of the lower court for holding an election is in violation of the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee.

The judge reminded that a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution against an order passed by a civil court may not be maintainable.
