Visakhapatnam: The annual CMR VJF-ViSJA inter-media cricket tournament was off to a gala start at the Port Stadium here on Wednesday. Pendurthi MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy, along with president of city BJP unit M. Nagendra, GVMC commissioner M. Harinarayanan, vice-chancellor of Andhra University G. Nageswara Rao and others inaugurated the cricket tournament.
President and the secretary of VJF, G. Srinu Babu and S. Durga Rao and secretary of ViSJA, N. Nageswara Rao, said 12 teams are participating in the event. The MLA said the sports meet and cricket tournament was an opportunity to relax for the journalists who work under a lot of stress all through the year. In the inaugural match, VJF-B team defeated Praja Sakthi by six wickets. In another match, VJA-A registered a thumping six-wicket victory over Sakshi team. Eenadu will clash with ViSJA and Andhra Prabha will play local channels team on Thursday.
