Speak to BCCI: Suresh Raina on reported Yo-Yo test failure and Team India omission
Mumbai: Team India discard Suresh Raina on Thursday refused to comment on the reason of reportedly failing the Yo-Yo test, just saying “Speak to BCCI."
Speaking on the sidelines of Sketchers Performance Goa River Marathon launch, Raina admitted that he is working hard towards comeback to the Indian team.
“I am working hard. There is nothing tough in life if you enjoy your process and enjoy your cricket and I have always done that. When I got injured, that was a difficult time of my life. So, it (being out of Indian team) is nothing and I am enjoying it and the things will come in my time," he stated.
Injuries and fitness concerns have kept Raina out of Team India for a while but the left-hander hopes to make a comeback. He, alongside Yuvraj Singh, was not picked to play for Virat Kohli-led India after reportedly failing the Yo-Yo test.
The 30-year-old also credited former India coach Anil Kumble for spin sensation Kuldeep Yadav's growth.
"Kuldeep is doing very well and the credit goes to Anil Bhai (Anil Kumble). He worked really hard with him (Kuldeep). I was talking to Kuldeep in the IPL. He always used to message Anil Bhai. He is the product of Anil Kumble," Raina said on the sidelines of Sketchers Performance Goa River Marathon launch.
Raina also stated that Kuldeep has done a fine job playing alongside Brad Hogg for Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League.
“He (Kuldeep) has done well with Brad Hogg as well. He is the guy who will change everything in bowling department.”
Out of the Indian side, Raina is currently in charge of Uttar Pradesh in Ranji Trophy. The UP side was humiliated by Railways after being bundled out for 72 runs while chasing 94.
Speaking on the loss, he said "The boys are still learning. We had a chat after the match. The wicket was little different. We still have five more games to go.”
The 30-year-old, who captained India Blue in the recently-concluded Duleep Trophy, lost to India Red in the final of the tournament.
"In Duleep Trophy you have seen the wicket and it is not in my hand to win the toss. So, we had to bat on the fourth day and it was not easy. There are many aspects which we need to take in a positive manner,” said Raina.
While Raina is currently not a part of the Indian side, the team is enjoying a fine run of form. The Kohli-led unit, which had trounced Sri Lanka 9-0 on their home soil, recently beat Australia 4-1 in the five-match ODI series.
Raina lauded the Indian team’s performance and said that he will like to a play a part in India’s success when he is picked.
"Team is doing well. It is good to see that your country is winning. That is important. When I get a chance, I will also be a part of it," concluded Raina.
