League match: Sanandia blows away Delhi hopes

Unfortunately, Pant, resuming at 19, fell for the addition of just 10 runs with Sanandia dismissing the dangerman in the 13th over of the day.

Bengaluru: Medium-pacer Shaurya Sanandia grabbed a five-wicket haul as Saurashtra pulled off a thrilling four-wicket win over Delhi to deny their opponents a knockout berth on the final day of Group B league encounter at the Reliance stadium in Vadodara on Saturday.

With Saurashtra’s unlikely victory, Odisha clinched the third spot from Group B irrespective of their final league encounter against Jharkhand from Dec 15-18.
Chasing 276 and resuming at 109/4 on the final morning, Delhi looked to the starlet Rishabh Pant, who has been in glorious form this season to see them through. Unfortunately, Pant, resuming at 19, fell for the addition of just 10 runs with Sanandia dismissing the dangerman in the 13th over of the day.

Milind Kumar (55, 165b) and Manan Sharma (46, 120b) almost looked like pulling off a victory with a 77-run sixth wicket stand but Sanandia’s fifth scalp of Milind sounded the death knell for Delhi and Kushang Patel (4-83) sealed the issue for Saurashtra.
