Virat Kohli in record books despite a duck in Guwahati T20 vs Australia; here's how

The India skipper's big-match mentality and penchant for finishing games have seen the Team India skipper break records with ease.

Guwahati: Virat Kohli has already cemented his place in the list of the most elite batsmen in world cricket. Not only are his captaincy credentials an asset to his team, but the 28-year-old can turn things around with the bat in just a matter of few minutes.

His big-match mentality and penchant for finishing games have seen the Team India skipper break records with ease.

With the Men in Blue losing ‘hitman’ Rohit Sharma as early in the first over of the 2nd T201 against Australia on Tuesday, much was expected of Kohli to deliver again. But Australia’s John Behrendorff got the better of Kohli soon as he trapped him in front of the stumps, for nought.

The pacer bowled an in-swinger on a good length, which nipped back in and struck Kohli on the knee roll as he tried to play across the line, getting a faint inside edge. The India skipper was doubtful that the ball may be drifting outside leg and consulted Shikhar Dhawan at the other end before walking back to the pavilion.

However, this was Kohli’s first maiden duck in the 47 innings he so far played in shortest format of the game and the India talisman also created many other records on the night.

Overall in 52 innings, Kohli has amassed 1360 runs in T20Is with an impressive average of 52.91.

Coming back to the game, Kohli’s departure further inflicted the pressure on the hosts as they crumbled to a paltry total of 118 before David Warner’s men chased it down with ease in just in 15.3 overs.
