Virat Kohli might break these records as India faces Windies in a 3-match ODI series

As India take on the West Indies for a three-match ODI series, Virat Kohli will be looking to break many records.

Mumbai: As India take on the West Indies for a three-match ODI series, Indian captain Virat Kohli will be staring at multiple records that awaits him at the West Indies ODI series.

Virat Kohli is just 77 runs short of breaking Sourav Ganguly’s ODI record of 11,363 runs. Ganguly, who is currently eighth in the list of all-time highest ODI run-scorer, will be pushed down to ninth if Kohli manages to score 77 or above. Currently, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar leads the list as he has notched up a humongous 18,426 ODI runs in his whole illustrious career.

If Kohli manages to score 19 runs or above then he will surpass former Pakistan legend Javed Miandad to be the top ODI runs scorer against the West Indies. Currently, Javed Miandad leads the list with 1930 runs, followed by the 30-year-old Kohli who has scored 1912 runs against the Caribbeans.

Kohli can also break former West Indies batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan’s record of most ODI runs scored by a batsman in an India-West Indies ODI series. Sarwan has scored 700 runs from 17 games while the Indian skipper has 556 runs from 12 encounters.

Kohli also has the opportunity to surpass West Indies legend Desmond Haynes’ feat of most hundreds scored in India-West Indies in West Indies. Both Kohli and Haynes have two centuries each, but a ton would help Kohli move past Haynes on Thursday.

After ensuring a 3-0 whitewash against the West Indies, India will be looking to clinch the three-match ODI series 3-0. The first match starts on Thursday at the Providence Stadium.

India’s ODI squad for the series:-

Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kedar Jadhav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini
