BCCI man to observe test match in Hyderabad

A division bench has refused to appoint a commissioner or supervisor to over see the conduct of the match.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday made it clear that the observer of the BCCI, who has arrived to Hyderabad, will over see the test match scheduled from February 19, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal in Hyderabad.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter has refused to appoint a commissioner or supervisor to over see the conduct of the match as the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) does not have an elected body.

The bench directed that the old committee of 2014 of the Hyderabad Cricket Association has to deposit the required funds for conducting of match in bank account.

The bench ordered that the committee will spend the funds only after consulting the observer. The court directed the BCCI to appoint one more financial observer like Deloitte, who will streamline the financial working and the 2014 committee will work under him.

This interim order was granted by the bench in a PIL filed by M. Govinda Reddy, a Hyderabad-based advocate to direct the HCA to implement the recommendation of the Jus-tice Lodha Committee and also to appoint an administrator to take care of affairs of the HCA in view of cricket matches scheduled from February 9.

The bench felt that in view of the fact that an observer has been sent by the BCCI to take care of the match, ordering appointment of another supervisor would lead to further ambiguity and confusion in conducting the match.

The bench also felt that that making any changes in the existing committee also would create further confusion and it would also have an adverse effect on the organising the match.

The bench said that it was open to the BCCI to act against the present or former office bearers of HCA after the completion of the match.

The bench said that it is not making any observation on the allegations against the existing committee at this stage. But at the same time, this court has also noted the fact that the BCCI asking the Deloitte to look into allegations against the present committee. The bench said that it will take a final decision only after the filling of counter-affidavits by the respondents in the case.

The bench posted the case to February 27 and directed financial obse-rver to be appointed by the BCCI to place all the details of expenditure and revenue for the match by February 27.

Jagathi pleas rejected
A Special CBI Court hearing ED cases on Monday refused to allow the pleas of Jagathi publications to conduct the trial of all the cases filed against them treating them as single case.

Jagathi Publications was named as accused in cases related to inves-tments in Ramky Pharma and Vanpic. It claimed that separate trial in each case will incur them loss. But CBI counsel opposed it saying that the trial will begin after chargesheets are filed and asked the court to not allow the petitions of the accused.
