Vijay Hazare Trophy: Hyderabad beat Dhoni's Jharkhand

Hyderabad: In what is turning out to be a dream season for Hyderabad, their bowlers tightened the screws against Jharkhand to clinch a memorable 21-runs victory in the Group ‘D’ match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy played at Kolkata on Friday.

Put into bat first, Hyderabad managed just 203/8 in 50 overs. Sumanth Kolla (48) and B. Sandeep (43) played well for Hyderabad.

Shabaz Nadeem snared 3 wickets for the losing side. While Tiwary smashed a century (102), Dhoni was a pale shadow of himself. It was an off day for him who struggled in his 47-ball 28 before being bowled by Mehdi Hasan.

Jharkhand messed up the chase as they were bundled out for 182 in 44.4 overs. Mehdi scalped three wickets while M. Ravi Kiran, C.V. Milind and Akash Bhandari picked two wickets.

Jointly on 16 points after four matches each, Karnataka and Hyderabad have an edge over Jharkhand (12) to make the quarters from Group ‘D’.
