Respect Virat Kohli the way he is: Mohammad Azharuddin

The 54-year-old revealed that he had been coaching players from abroad also and said he was open to share his knowledge with future generations.

Mumbai: Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin echoed Sourav Ganguly’s assessment that present skipper Virat Kohli ‘was so consumed by wanting to win as captain against Australia that he let his emotions affect his batting’.

“I tend to agree on that but at the end of the day, that’s how he is, that’s
how he plays and we have to respect that,” he said on the sidelines of the inaugural Rajsingh Dungarpur Spirit of Cricket Lecture organised by the CCI, delivered this year by former Test cricketer Yajuvendra Singh.

The 54-year-old revealed that he had been coaching players from abroad also and said he was open to share his knowledge with future generations. He also advised Indian players who were fit and not part of IPL like Cheteshwar Pujara to play county cricket to learn to cope with the moving ball in overseas tours. “We have done really well. I am sure they can do well (overseas),” said Azhar.
