Ajinkya Rahane, Arjen Robben exchange Diwali gifts

Rahane and Robben got into the festive mood, to exchange a couple of jerseys between themselves.

Mumbai: India cricketer Ajinkya Rahane and Dutch football star Arjen Robben got into the festive mood, exchanging a couple of Diwali gifts between themselves.

Bayern Munich had sent Rahane a club jersey, with ‘Ajinkya’ printed on the back. Rahane posted a video on his social media account, saying: “Happy Diwali to all my fans. I would like to thank Bayern Munich for this lovely gift, and I am sending you a surprise very soon.”

Bayern soon posted this “surprise” on their social media page – Dutch winger Arjen Robben holding an India jersey. The club thanked Rahane for this gift.

Interestingly though, Rhane had his own name printed on the back of the India jersey. Perhaps he was unsure which Bayern player to address it to.

"Arjen Robben certainly enjoyed receiving his Diwali gift from Ajinkya Rahane! We hope all our Indian fans had a very happy Diwali," wrote Bayern Munich, on their social media account.

Rahane, who scored heavily during the Test series against New Zealand, could not impress with the bat in the ODI leg of series.

Meanwhile, an injury has kept Robben out of action for most parts of the current season, having made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Earlier this year, India Test captain Virat Kohli had exhibited the football fan inside him, by showing his support for the German national team. In return, Real Madrid and Germany star midfielder Toni Kroos sent Kohli a signed jersey.
