TD, YSRC failing to attract public attention

Politicos from both parties feel that time is too short to meet every family.

Nellore: The mass contact programmes of TDP christened Intintiki Telugu Desam and YSRC named as Gadapa Gadapaki YSR, has faltered with leaders of the two parties going around with folded hands as party workers distribute publicity material door to door.

TD men try to harp on their government's achievements while YSRC members are busy pointing out the failure of the ruling party and distribute a 100-point questionnaire related to promises made by N. Chandrabau Naidu.

Their intention, the party chiefs said earlier, was to interact with every family and impress upon them their party programmes and sort out issues where these were affecting them.

The stock answer from TD leaders is that they would not be able to cover the whole constituency if they visit every household within the stipulated three months. The reply is no different from YSRC leaders.

Some leaders such as urban development minister P. Narayana and YSRC legislators Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Dr Anilkumar Yadav and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, however, tried to interact with people wherever possible. Agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy is covering part of his Sarvepalli segment while his son Somireddy Rajagopal Reddy looks after the balance.

Mr Narayana ordered two sewing machines to be provided on the spot when some women, who are good at tailoring, poured their woes before him during the campaign. Speaking to this newspaper he said it took him 5 hours to cover 50 households in Nellore city segment, adding that three months would not be sufficient to visit every house. The programme which was launched in September 11 to continue till December 11 will be extended by three months to touch every house by the constituency in-charges, he said.

YSRC legislator Kakani Govardhan Reddy also said it was difficult to cover every house so they came out with a new programme, YSR Kutumbam to activate booth committees to visit every house and enrol members from willing households. To welcome new entrants, a greeting message is sent to them from YSRC headquarters with a recorded voice call of Jagan inviting members to YSRC family.

Dr P. Anilkumar Yadav said their booth committee members have enrolled more than 80,000 members in Nellore parliament constituency with in last 20 days. He added that can not be lax like TD leaders because they are under the scanner of election strategist Prasanth Kishore and his team and they have to submit a daily report too.
