Jithender Reddy's Yak Tweet Leaves Sour Taste for State BJP

Hyderabad: In what seems to be a tale of unending woe for the Telangana BJP unit, near-dissidence and deftly camouflaged revolt was on Thursday followed by an embarrassing tweet by national executive member A.P. Jithender Reddy’s, reportedly aimed at state leaders, eliciting swift responses from other political parties.

In a tweet, with a short TikTok video clip of a man kicking a yak in its back to make it get on to a truck, Jithender Reddy said: “This treatment is what’s required for BJP’s Telangana leadership.”

Reddy tagged Union minister Amit Shah, national general secretary incharge of Telangana affairs Sunil Bansal, general secretary for organisational affairs B.L. Santosh, and the party’s national and state party Twitter handles. And, it wasn’t long before Twitter was abuzz over the tweet.

Not one to dither on a chance to have his say, TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy immediately responded to the tweet, saying Jithender Reddy “has beautifully illustrated the internal bickering in Telangana BJP”, adding that the video used by the BJP leader made it clear what the fate of those joining the BJP will be like.

Although Jithender Reddy initially deleted his tweet, he reposted it, followed by another tweet in which he said his tweet was to illustrate what needs to be done to those who question BJP state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s leadership.

While Jithender Reddy claimed that his tweet was being misunderstood and misinterpreted, the damage was already done.

People took potshots at the BJP, and the tweet with the yak went viral with people commenting that the video shows a good lesson for those wanting to join the BJP in Telangana, with others pointing out that the treatment the yak received is what the BJP will get during the Assembly elections in the state.
