Big hike in Telangana publicity spend

This information was given by minister T. Nageswara Rao to Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohd Ali Shabbir on behalf of CM.

Hyderabad: The state government has allocated Rs 505.92 crore to the information and public relations department for 2016-2017, against Rs 102.02 crore in 2014-2015 and Rs 265.85 crore in 2015-16.

Of this, Rs 194.11 crore has been earmarked for the print media, Rs 65 crore for outdoor media, Rs 100 crore for the Journalists Welfare Fund (Press Academy), Rs 18.73 crore for the Film Development Corporation while Rs 63.07 goes for salaries and establishment costs.

This information was given by minister T. Nageswara Rao to Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohd Ali Shabbir on behalf of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

As against Rs 41.75 crore spent in 2014-2015 for print, outdoor and electronic media, the government had spent Rs 248.63 crore till November this year including Rs 166.27 crore on print, Rs 40.14 crore on outdoor and Rs 42.22 crore on electronic media.

Last year, the government had spent Rs 5.6 crore for Mission Kakatiya and Rs 5.7 lakh on industrial policy in electronic media and Rs 50.56 lakh on the 11th Metropolis Congress. The irrigation department has spent Rs 15.95 crore of the funds.
