RSS failed to take on Nayanar: CPM

The CPM state secretary said the RSS was led by Savarkar since 1923 which itself exposes the essence of its Hindu Rashtra ideology.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has called upon all secular forces to come together for exposing the RSS alleged role in Gandhi’s assassination.

In an article, Kodiyeri recalled that E.K. Nayanar while being the chief minister had explained the RSS role in Gandhi's assassination. At that time some RSS leaders had threatened to take him to the court for his observations. BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai had also come out in support of RSS move.

Though Nayanar accepted the challenge and dared them to meet in the court, the RSS backed out. However, in the recent defamation case filed by RSS on the same issue against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congres vice-president Rahul Gandhi, notices were issued by the Mumbai High Court. And when it was challenged in Supreme Court, the apex court stated that let the lower court examine the historical incident.

“I am not going into the pros and cons of the court verdict. But secular forces should come forward to expose the real face of RSS in the court,” he said.

The CPM state secretary said the RSS was led by Savarkar since 1923 which itself exposes the essence of its Hindu Rashtra ideology. The Hindu Mahasabha and RSS had not contributed to the freedom movement but they opposed it on many occasions.

Kodiyeri said Godse had even stated in the court that he had left RSS and this was done by him to save other top leaders of RSS including Golwalkar from the case. This would be clear if one examines the history factually.

Though publicly the Sangh Parivar had denied its role in Gandhi assassination, privately its followers have hailed the incident. That’s why temples and statues were being built in the name of Godse. They even refuse to accept Gandhi as Father of the Nation.

Kodiyeri said when Gopal Godse who was sentenced to life imprisonment came out of jail after serving the conviction period; he was given reception by Sangh Parivar at many places including Nagpur.
