Siddaramaiah encouraging corruption: Jagadish Shettar

Siddaramaiah defended his decision to recommend the name of senior IAS officer Mr Shyam Bhat for the post of KPSC Chairman.

Mysuru: BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said that there were several allegations of corruption against IAS officer Shyam Bhat and former SHRC chairperson Justice S.R. Nayak and therefore, appointing them to key posts in KPSC and Lokayukta would mean encouraging corruption. He was speaking to reporters here on Thursday.

On the allegation by CM Siddaramaiah that he was a liar, Mr Shettar said, “In order to cover up his corrupt acts, Mr Siddaramaiah is defending the corrupt. Earlier, Moily was termed a liar when he was CM, now Siddaramaiah seems to have become a bigger liar than him. His overbearing attitude can be attributed to the fact that Congress high command is weak,” he said.

CM defends move to pick Bhat as KPSC chief
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended his decision to recommend the name of senior IAS officer Mr Shyam Bhat for the post of KPSC Chairman.

He was speaking to mediapersons near his residence, at Sharadadevinagar during his brief visit to Mysuru, to attend the wedding of the son of PWD Minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa, on Thursday. Reacting to a question, he said, “The Governor has not sought any report from the state government on appointing Mr Shyam Bhat as KPSC chairman. It is only Opposition leaders who are alleging that he is corrupt. Is all that the Opposition party says true? Is all that Mr Jagadish Shettar says always true? It is their habit to lie,” he said.

To a question on the mass protest by the state police force on June 4, he said, “Police are always known as disciplined personnel. I am confident that they will not resort to a protest and behave in an undisciplined manner.”

The CM reiterated that he was going to Delhi on Thursday afternoon to hold discussions with the Congress high command on finalising candidates for the Legislative Council polls and to discuss the Cabinet reshuffle. He added that he had sought time with Union ministers to discuss the release of drought relief funds.
