BJP to Hold OBC Morcha Meeting in Vizag on Jan. 7: Purandeswari

VIJAYAWADA: BJP AP president Daggubati Purandeswari said that the BJP OBC Morcha would organise a public meeting at Visakhapatnam on January 7 in which national and state leaders would address the public. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is following the path of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in turning India into a developed nation, she stated.

The OBC Morcha state executive meeting was held at the BJP state office on Monday in Vijayawada. Purandeswari, on the occasion of former prime minister Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, garlanded his portrait and paid floral tributes to him. Purandeswari also welcomed many into the BJP.

Purandeswari said, “Vajpayee is a role model for politicians of present generation.” She recalled that Vajpayee had initiated a free uniform and shoes scheme for government schoolchildren through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. She said that PM Modi wanted to make India a developed country by 2047. She hit out at Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for claiming that his government was providing it all.

Later, Purandeswari participated in the Vajpayee Jayanthi celebrations by unfurling the BJP flag at her native village Karamchedu. She set the foundation stone for the drinking water treatment plant in Karamchedu with her husband and former MP, Dr Daggubati Venkateswara Rao.

Purandeswari stated that for the last nine and a half years, Rs 23 crore had been sanctioned by the Union government, and many development programmes had been completed for Karamchedu village.
