VHR dares Owaisi to contest from Kerala

HYDERABAD: Hitting out at the remarks of AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi against Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao challenged him to the Lok Sabha fight in Kerala next year.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Hanumantha Rao said, “As part of Rahul Gandhi’s bid to ensure social justice, a meeting of BCs will be held in Shadnagar where Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be the chief guest. The party has promised a BC sub-plan and a caste-wise census based on population.”

Continuing further, Hanumantha Rao said “The party will perform well only if the BCs vote for us. Funds should be allocated based on the share of BCs in the population.”

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting, senior vice-president of TPCC, G. Niranjan said, “Voters of Hyderabad are vexed with the AIMIM and its leaders and are biding their time to teach them a lesson. Owaisi should not forget that our candidates won from Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat prior to 1984.”

Targeting Rahul Gandhi at this juncture shows that there is an internal understanding between Majlis and the BJP, he said.
