Appalled by atrocities of Razakars, says Amit Shah

Amit Shah said Gundrampalli was lucky to have entire top brass of BJP right from booth level to national president on dais.

Gundrampalli (Nalgonda): BJP national president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that those who had shed blood and given their lives fighting Razakars will be forever remembered by the nation and will hold a special place in the hearts of BJP leaders.

Slamming the Congress and the TRS for objecting to his visit to the village and raking up Razakar atrocities, he said: “Telangana people who fought the Razakars will have a special place in the heart of BJP. I want to ask one thing. Telangana people fought Razakars. They fought for Independence. But why are they still poverty-stricken?” Amit Shah said.

Seeking the support of all sections to form a BJP government in the state, he said poverty-free and development-oriented Telangana was only possible through the Narendra Modi-led BJP.

He was addressing a booth-level meeting in the village after honouring families who laid down their lives fighting Razakars who swore allegiance to the Nizam.

Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, TS BJP president K. Laxman, party leaders Muralidhar Rao and others also spoke.

Amit Shah said he was appalled after seeing a photo exhibition on the atrocities committed by Razakars against men, women and children in the village where over 160 persons were killed and the bodies dumped in a well.

“I was told a sack full of pustelu (mangalsutra) was looted by the Razakars,” he said.

The BJP national president also felicitated Nikita, a schoolgirl who took part in a yoga programme along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Thanking the TS BJP for bringing him to the “holy” Gundrapalli village, he said though he lives in Gujarat, entire country remembers the heroic struggle of Telangana people against Razakars and for the freedom of the country.

“When entire country was celebrating freedom, some parts of Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka were bearing the atrocities of foreigners. In Gundrampalli, over 160 innocent people were murdered in cold blood. Thanks to bravery of people of Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra and bravery shown by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Telangana became part of Bharat,” he said.

Referring to objections raised by Congress and others for raking up Razakaar issue, he said, “A reporter asked me yesterday about BJP’s intention in reviving old Razakar wounds. I know who is behind this question. It is the Congress and TRS. ”

Amit Shah said Gundrampalli was lucky to have entire top brass of BJP right from booth level to national president on dais.

“I want to now ask whether you will make Gundrampalli a BJP bastion in Telangana. Under leadership of Modi, will you form BJP government in Telangana?” he asked. “Chestam” (will do it) yelled the audience.
