Hyderabad: Urging the Warangal police commissioner A.V. Ranganath to take up a fair investigation into the case of a medical PG student, Dr D. Preethi’s suicide attempt, PCC official spokesperson M. Ramachandra Reddy condemned statements of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar who branded it an instance of 'love jihad'.
Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan, Ramachandra Reddy said Telangana continued to be a hub for ragging cases which even the University Grants Commission had pointed out. The state government had failed to control the menace.
" Sanjay cannot substantiate what he is saying. I strongly condemn the usage of phrases like love jihad for such cases,” he said.
The Congress leader alleged that Sanjay was playing a dangerous political game by trying to divide society on religious lines. "This is a case of harassment, but Bandi is engaging in loose talk. The authorities should take strong action against whoever talks of love jihad.”
