Board chiefs: Siddaramaiah, Dr G Parameshwar, Dinesh Gundu Rao for New Delhi

Mr Siddaramaiah may try to back the move to overhaul the party state unit so that he can appoint a state PCC president of his choice.

Bengaluru: Nearly two months after Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi rejected the list of nominees submitted by the party, CM Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar and KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao left for New Delhi on Sunday to seek permission from party top leaders to clear these appointments.

Despite Mr Gandhi rejecting the list once, it is reliably learnt that Mr Siddaramaiah is trying to push for the appointment of MLAs and defeated MLAs to these posts, while Dr Parameshwar seems to be in favour of toeing Mr Gandhi’s diktats.

Apart from this, Mr Siddaramaiah may try to back the move to overhaul the party state unit so that he can appoint a state PCC president of his choice.

Speaking to DC, a senior leader said Mr Siddaramaiah may adopt a flexible stance which he often does whenever he is in a crisis, especially with elections just 20 months away. “Mr Siddaramaiah knows that he may not succeed in convincing Mr Gandhi to clear his list, but he will surely make an attempt. Mr Gandhi’s diktat was clear last time that he wanted those who have toiled for the party and those who could not be accommodated during the elections to be given a chance to make it to the state-run boards,” the source added.
