RPI wants YSRC MLC Ananta Babu's meeting cancelled; threatens to disrupt it

KAKINADA: Republican Party of India (Ambedkar) has asked police not to permit YSRC MLC Ananta Babu’s public meeting at Rampachodavaram on Wednesday.

RPI activists led by its state general secretary Pitta Vara Prasad met Rampachodavaram ASP Jagadish Adahalli in this regard on Tuesday. They pointed to the officer that Ananta Babu had murdered Dalit youth Veedhi Subrahmanyam, who had been the MLC’s car driver, on May 19 last year. Ananta Babu confessed to his crime on May 23 and had later been arrested. YSRC also suspended him from the party.

While the district and high courts refused bail petitions to him, the Supreme Court granted him bail. By then, he had spent 206 days in the Rajamahendravaram Central Jail.

The RPI general secretary pointed out that since then Ananta Babu has participated in Gadapa-Gadapaku programme of YSRC. His supporters have put up his posters and also performed “Ksheerabhishekam” to his portrait.

Vara Prasad said Ananta Babu is now planning a public meeting on the main Devipatnam Road at Ramapachodavaram. This will block the road with no access to the hospital and sub-collector’s office. The RPI leader thus wanted the police to cancel permission for the public meeting.

“Otherwise, RPI, with help of tribal associations and political parties, will prevent the meeting,” Vara Prasad warned.

RPI state executive members P. Srinivasa Rao, Ch. Arjun and J. Yedukondalu were among those present.
